It has been a tough season thus far for many football bettors. Week 6 had about 75% underdogs covering. This means the average bettor got their clocked clean. If you have been raking it in, you need to find a way to keep your players interested and coming back for more. It will take some creative marketing on your part, but is going to help you with that too!

We know you are not Robin Hood, but it is time to give some money back. Your pockets are stuffed, your player's heads are down, and you need to keep these guys in the game. What type of promotional offers can you come up with that will generate more interest in your local bookie service and keep them betting?

Have you ever considered a weekly football pool? Sites like Yahoo and ESPN have weekly pick pools that can serve as your office pool. You can set it up and password protect it so only your players have access to the game. Put some type or requirement on it to help generate action. For instance, if you wager a total of $100 on Saturday, you get a free entry into the weekly pool that has a $200 prize fund. That would get my interest!

You could also have a weekly drawing for local sporting event tickets. Go on eBay and find some great seats to the next home game. Again, create a random drawing where each player earns a free entry for a specific dollar amount wagered. The more they bet, the better chance they have of winning the drawing. By just having the opportunity to win, it will create more interest in them wagering each week.

Another option is to offer some type of bonus program that has rewards attached to it. Each week, you issue rewards points based on how much they have wagered, win or lose. For instance, if someone wagers $1,000 over the weekend, they get 100 points. Set up different rewards at different levels. Maybe they get a $50 gift card at 1,000 points. Are you getting the idea here?

And what is one thing that every gambler loves to have? Gambling money! You can keep it basic and either offer them the same points in the rewards system we mentioned above that they can cash whenever they want for betting cash, or you can just offer them a rebate on losses. This is something that would probably be very attractive to a lot of your players.

If you are going to offer a refund, do it on a monthly basis instead of a week-to-week basis. We say this because you will have players that will lose three out of four weeks and then have a monster week that gets them back to even for the month. If you were to offer them a rebate on weekly losses, you would be adding to their overall profit. By only offering the rebate at the end of the month for the month, you lessen the likelihood of this scenario playing out.

The only way your book will make money is if you keep your players active and loyal to you. Offering programs such as this will put you miles ahead of the other local bookies and will actually make you a legitimate competitor of the major online sports books. You may not have their bankroll, but you can surely start programs that are just as beneficial to your players. Over time, word of mouth will travel and your player list will continue to grow, increasing your yearly profits.
